West Ham will be resigned to losing a few of their top stars, with Mateus Fernandes already exiting and Crysencio Summerville likely to follow.

Following his exploits in the 2026 World Cup, Summerville has certainly put himself in the shop window.

Teams such as Manchester United have been credited with interest in the winger, as it remains to be seen where he ends up playing his football.

The general feeling is that the 24-year-old will depart from London Stadium and the Irons may already have a plan in place for that - a transfer for Anthony Musaba.

As a season in the Championship looms, the Irons cannot afford to get their transfer business wrong.

And that will prop up the question of whether Musaba is the right man to fill the potential Summerville void expected.

Where would Anthony Musaba improve West Ham - and where does he lack?

If the Hammers are to lose Summerville, bringing in a star who can effectively fill that void will be key.

West Ham's links to Musaba could make sense in that regard as there are a few similarities between them - other than the obvious Dutch connection.

In terms of an attacking threat, Musaba wins out over Summerville, as per FotMob.

Comparing both players' league season on a per 90 basis, Musaba has an expected goal involvement of 0.51.

Meanwhile, Summerville's was 0.26 - almost half of the Fenerbahce ace's total.

However, both players did score the same amount of goals, suggesting the current Hammers star makes more of the limited chance's he takes.

Creatively, the Turkish league winger also creates big chances at a more frequent rate. His total of 0.53 far outweighs Summerville's 0.15.

However, despite Musaba being taller than Summerville, he could lack in the physicality and ability to shield opponents off of him.

Summerville has a 50.3 per cent duel win rate, while Musaba comes in at 40.5 per cent.

So, while West Ham may be getting more threat up top, that difference in duelling and winning individual battles should not go unnoticed.

What could West Ham expect from Musaba?

While the data is positive on the Musaba front, the real expectation comees from what his previous coaches and employers have said about him.

The forward's pace is certainly a big asset and if the Irons find themselves in a match with plenty of space, he could prove decisive.

Roger Mejia, his former manager at NEC, once said: "If we have to play further back, creating space behind the last line, Anthony is someone who can exploit that like no other."

So, Musaba would certainly be an exciting acquisition if the E20 side can get it over the line.
