Anass Salah-Eddine has reportedly turned down a move to West Ham United.

The Hammers have been in the market for a new left-back since the departure of Malick Diouf to Brentford, and landed on Salah-Eddine.

The AS Roma defender returned back to the Serie A club after a loan move with PSV last season.

He isn't particulary an attacking full-back as much as Diouf is, but certiantly could have offered Ollie Scarles competition.

Why Anass Salah-Eddine has turned West Ham down

According to an update from The Athletic on deadline day this Tuesday, West Ham have shifted their focus to Athletic Bilbao's Adama Boiro after being rejected by Salah-Eddine.

They submitted a loan offer for the Roma man, but he has instead preferred and opted to explore other options.

Now, Nuno Espirito Santo's side are in talks with Bilbao to sign Boiro on loan instead.

It's said that the Hammers are keen on more arrivals before the window shuts at 11pm BST, which means more than one player could yet arrive in E20.

Has Nuno made up his mind on Ollie Scarles?

The jury is out on Scarles after a few games in the Championship this season.

The Rush Green product clearly has potential, but whether he is good enough for a promotion push remains up for debate.

Clearly, Nuno wants to provide the young man with competition, though the names linked would come in as first-team starters, who could harm his chances of playing soon.

Time will tell, as West Ham look to wrap up a deal for Boiro soon.
