West Ham must be cautious in making move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer transfer window, according to talkSport.

The England international has failed to get first-team minutes under Jurgen Klopp recently and looks to move on from Anfield.

As the 28-year-old comes into the final year of his contract, Liverpool would be happy to cash in on him rather than losing him for free next summer.

On the other hand, the Hammers are in the market to sign a midfielder, especially after the retirement of Mark Noble.

Forgotten man

It seems like decades have gone since Oxlade-Chamberlain made his mark in the middle of the park for Klopp.

In his first season at Anfield, he was one of the first names on the team sheet for Klopp’s men until an injury in the Champions League semi-final against Roma disrupted his momentum.

Since that horrifying injury, the England international hasn’t looked even half as good a player as he was during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Arsenal midfielder only made 17 appearances for Klopp in the recently concluded season, scoring two goals and providing one assist [Transfermarkt].

For a club like West Ham, who are already potentially on the cusp of signing Jesse Lingard, making a move for another player who was tipped for big things will be a risky call, especially with the departure of Noble in the midfield, Moyes will be better off spending of players who have better fitness record.

In other West Ham news, a medical has been scheduled for another player to join the Hammers in just over a week.
