Roma sure to accept West Ham United approach for Tammy Abraham after Sky Sports transfer update
West Ham United are set to be busy in the summer transfer window and Julen Lopetegui looks to put his own stamp on his playing squad.
The former Real Madrid manager is expected to work in tandem with Tim Steidten to recruit a number of new players to help the Hammers transition following the departure of David Moyes at the end of the season.
While defensive reinforcements and new wingers will be high on the agenda, the former Wolves boss will also be keen to get his hands on a new number nine this summer and one name that could be of interest is Tammy Abraham.
Reports from Sky Sports in Italy (29 May) suggest that Roma will be keen to sell the former Chelsea striker this summer as they begin to remodel their squad under the management of Daniel De Rossi.
The 26-year-old England international has had a difficult season in Italy, scoring only once in eight Serie A matches having missed the majority of the campaign through injury, but that may not deter the Irons.
Will West Ham United complete Tammy Abraham transfer in the summer transfer window?
The Irons are known to have kept tabs on Abraham in the past and reports earlier this month suggest that scouts even attended Roma’s showdown with Napoli where he scored from the bench [HITC, 7 May].
On top of that, Lopetegui and Steidten are both understood to have accepted the fact that a new striker is a must this summer as they need to put an end to their long-standing centre-forward issue [Evening Standard, 21 May].

While it remains to be seen if Abraham will still be a target this summer, Roma’s decision to sell the England international means that the Hammers could well be able to secure his services at a cut price, especially given his injury woes.
If a deal can be reached between the two parties, West Ham can finally find their Michail Antonio replacement and Abraham can begin playing regular first-team football back in the Premier League.
This could be a link to keep an eye on as the start of the transfer window draws nearer.
