Max Kilman surely finished at West Ham after latest transfer developments from Italy
Max Kilman’s West Ham career looks set to be over.
Kilman joined West Ham from Wolves for a fee of £40million in 2023, and it’s safe to say his spell in E20 has been underwhelming.
It’s clear that if West Ham are to avoid relegation this season, they’ll need everyone to be completely switched on for each game, and the English centre-back has shown multiple times that he can’t do that.
Ever since Kilman made a crucial mistake against Bournemouth on 22 November, he has been slowly phased out of the team.
As a result, the Hammers are targeting another centre-back.

West Ham bid for Isak Hien spells trouble for Max Kilman
The 28-year-old is not valued by supporters, and his future looks to be in doubt in the summer.
The Daily Mail reported in its print edition on Monday that West Ham have made a bid to sign Isak Hien from Italian side Atalanta.
The Hammers have offered to sign the 27-year-old for a loan fee, and the deal contains an obligation to buy clause only if Nuno Espirito Santo’s side avoids relegation.
| Stat | Hien |
| Appearances | 20 |
| Tackles | 36 |
| Recoveries | 86 |
| Ground duels won | 90 |
| Pass accuracy | 91.1% |
If Hien were to join, that would leave the England centre-back fourth in the pecking order.
The Swedish international would surely come into the side instantly, and he commands an impressive reputation in Italy.
Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo have emerged as the starting centre-backs, with Kilman being left on the bench for the last three league matches.
His days are numbered at the London Stadium, and supporters will be glad to see him far away from the starting lineup.
West Ham’s last defensive signing could be a new goalkeeper
Alphonse Areola has been impressive this season, although Nuno clearly doesn’t have enough faith in his abilities.
West Ham are also keen on signing a new goalkeeper, meanwhile, and Toulouse star Guillaume Restes has emerged as the number one target.
The France U21 international would be a huge coup for the Hammers, but it would likely spell the end of Mads Hermansen’s time in E20.
The Dane’s £20m move from Leicester City in the summer has panned out disastrously, and there seems to be no way back for the 25-year-old shot-stopper.
The Hammers have also shown interest in Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky as part of a swap deal with Hermansen, although no developments have been made in negotiations.
If West Ham can get the Hein deal over the line, then they can turn their full attention to signing a new number one before the deadline on 2 February.
