West Ham United urged to sack Nuno Espirito Santo after 'disaster' vs Southampton
Nuno Espirito Santo has been catching criticism for his decisions in West Ham's defeat to Southampton.
The Hammers were bested 3-2 at London Stadium on Saturday, with the scorline perhaps suggesting a closer game that it truly was.
The London side were never truly in the match, and after going 2-0 down within 11 minutes, there was fear it could have been so much worse.
Nuno's side did have their promising spells, but they lacked substance and came few and far between as well.
With the Hammers chasing the game, his substitutions are being viewed in a negative light, alongside his original team selection.
With calls for Nuno to face being sacked coming quickly after.
Why Nuno is facing fresh sack calls after West Ham vs Southampton
Pressure is continuing to mount on Nuno following West Ham's latest disappointing display against Southampton.
The Hammers have struggled to find any consistency under the Portuguese manager, with questions growing over his ability to turn their fortunes around.
His team selections, substitutions and tactical decisions have now come under fierce scrutiny, with calls for a change in the dugout growing louder.
TalkSPORT editor and radio presenter Tom Rennie has called for the Portuguese manager to be let go insisting it is "time to move on."
Taking to X, immediately following full-time, he stated: "West Ham will not win enough games with this hack of a manager in charge. Time to move on from whatever this disaster with Nuno has been.
"He’s such a bad coach. He’s brought nothing to the club. Can’t read a game. Team selections and subs are utterly random."
The decision to take of Divine Mukasa, while leaving Taty Castellanos on for 90 minutes will be one of the bigger talking points.
And Nuno will have no one to blame but himself for being unable to turn the game on its head.
West Ham continue to be hit or miss this season
Although West Ham are third in the Championship, and remain the top scorers in the division, they can be quite hot and cold.
In terms of performances, you never know which version of the Irons will turn up, and that inconsistency will eventually come back to haunt them.
Whether or not sacking Nuno is the right call is ultimately up to the board, but something certainly needs to change.
In many ways, West Ham have been riding their luck with that finally catching up to them.
