West Ham were to resume talks for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma

West Ham were to resume talks with Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma today (Wednesday) over a summer move.

According to ExWHUEmployee, the Hammers were close to agreeing personal terms with the 26-year-old but they were eventually rejected on Tuesday.

The Guardian reported on Wednesday that the player had turned down a move to West Ham and the Hammers are now looking at Nikola Milenkovic.

Via his personal Twitter account, he said, “Last I heard yesterday is that whilst they got close on the contract terms it was rejected yes.

“They were going to resume talks again today.

“I haven’t heard if he has rejected it or not.”

Give him what he wants

Signing a centre-back this summer is the need of the hour and none come better than Zouma – a player who’s at the perfect age to move to the London Stadium and with regular game time take his game to the next level.

He would’ve undoubtedly been an upgrade on our current crop of central defenders, would give us aerial domination and be a threat for us in both boxes.

Zouma is a decent passer of the ball as well, so he could have help us build from the back as well. Although, now his arrival seems unlikely

One major stumbling block was probably his £25million valuation [Sky Sports], but having watched him play in the Premier League for the past few years, we’re confident that he’s someone worth that price tag and could prove to be a bargain in a few years.

If we don’t sign him, Nikola Milenkovic would also be a decent option, but Zouma is Premier League proven and we would rather he joins this summer.
