West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry is subject to loan interest from a number of EFL clubs, claims ExWHUEmployee.

According to the reliable Hammers insider, Peterborough Town are the favourites to secure the young English midfielder’s services this summer.

A number of Championship clubs including Hull want to sign him while Coventry City and Rotherham United are among those keeping tabs on the player.

With Europa League this season for the Irons, David Moyes could look to keep Coventry should he fail to rope in a central midfielder this summer.

It’s an area of the pitch the Hammers are already thin in and Mark Noble’s age means he’s not expected to stay fit for the entirety of the season.

West Ham fans on Facebook have been impressed by Coventry’s pre-season performances and want the club to keep him.

Here’s what they said:

Must keep him

His performances in pre-season have shown that he’s ready to make the step up and he knows that there’s not going to be a lot of pressure on him to be an instant success.

Players take time to bed themselves in and become first-team regulars and within a few months he would get used to the rigours of being a senior pro and given the personality he is, he’s destined to thrive in these conditions.

Given our slow transfer business, we’re probably not signing a midfielder, so that makes Coventry a vital backup option – one we have to keep at the club for next season.

He could play the cup games, the odd Europa League games and possibly a few in the Premier League off the bench as well.
