West Ham United: Wolves ‘fear’ approach for Gary O’Neil amid David Moyes sack talk
Wolves may fear losing Gary O’Neil to West Ham if David Moyes is sacked amid rumours surrounding his future at the London Stadium, according to Dean Jones.
The former Eurosport journalist reported that the Hammers admire O’Neil after what he has done with Wolves, and could be on their list of potential Moyes replacements.
However, it was also shared that the Wolves boss wouldn’t be the top candidate in East London, with the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter having previously been linked.
Speaking to Give Me Sport [29 February], Jones shared: “The fear might begin to be whether they are going to be able to keep hold of O’Neil now.
“At the moment, we’re getting towards the stage where West Ham are going to be looking for a new manager. While Gary O’Neil isn’t going to be the top target for them, I have heard that he is somebody they like.
“I would be surprised if he didn’t at least crop up on a list of names if and when Moyes does end up losing his job, so that is one to keep in mind.”
David Moyes to be sacked by West Ham?
Pressure continues to mount on the managerial position at the London Stadium, with the Hammers’ win against Brentford last time out their first in 2024, although they will head into the clash with Everton on 2 March looking to keep up their form.
A 6-0 defeat to Arsenal previously saw the board decide to delay any contract negotiations with Moyes amid pressure from the fans who are unhappy with results and with the style of play.
It has also been said that some players in the West Ham dressing room have grown frustrated with the manager, adding yet more fuel to the fire.

It has been reported that the West Ham board will give the boss the next run of games to see if he can turn around the club’s declining form, but following a loss to Nottingham Forest, the win against Brentford may not be enough to turn the tide.
