West Ham United ‘very confident’ Declan Rice not distracted by rumours of interest from other clubs

West Ham United are “very confident” of keeping star midfielder Declan Rice at the club, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The England international is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe and has been attracting interest from a number of top clubs on the continent, including rivals Chelsea.

Jones, while talking to Givemesport, suggested that West Ham are confident that Rice is not distracted by rumours of interest in signing him.

“For now, West Ham are very confident about the place that Rice is in,” he said. “He’s knuckling down and he trusts the process. He knows that any move for him will come along at the moment in which he actually needs it.”

Big player

West Ham are not a household name when it comes to having local players who go on to become world beaters.

It is because of this that having someone like Rice is an anomaly for the club and the fans to deal with it as they are just hoping to keep the player at London Stadium for as long as possible.

What makes Rice so special is the fact that despite being so young and attracting interest from a number of big clubs in the continent, he remains very level-headed.

This is something which is very rare to find these days and thus, David Moyes should do all he can to keep the 23-year-old at the club for years to come.

The London-born midfielder is a West Ham academy product and was promoted to the club’s senior team in the summer of 2017.

Since then, he has represented his current club in 202 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 10 goals and provided 11 assists in the process [Transfermarkt].
