West Ham United: Stuart Pearce shares David Moyes sack verdict after Crystal Palace loss
Stuart Pearce has admitted he wouldn’t be surprised either way should David Moyes leave West Ham or sign a new contract, although he insisted the boss has done a “wonderful” job.
Pearce worked as a coach under Moyes at the London Stadium and claimed if it were up to him, he would have awarded the boss a new deal after the Europa Conference League victory.
However, given recent performances which Pearce branded “disappointing”, questions have emerged yet again about the manager’s long-term future.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [22 April, 08:45am], Pearce shared his view, admitting: “It wouldn’t surprise me whichever way it fell.
“I think if I was in West Ham’s shoes a year ago, I’d probably have given David a new contract after the cup final and that would probably have quelled a lot of the noise that comes around.
“It seems like every week there’s talk about David’s situation. I think he’s done a wonderful job there and once again another team that had a disappointing result in the week had a really flat performance and Palace played very well.”

The defeat to Palace means West Ham have won just one of their last eight games in all competitions, with that win coming against Wolves through fortunate circumstances after a controversial VAR decision at the death.
That form has seen the Hammers’ hopes of qualifying for Europe slip away from them as they sit two points behind Manchester United, who currently occupy the Europa Conference League place with two games in hand.
Criticism for the run of form has to fall on the manager’s head rather than the players, with Moyes questioned on several occasions this season after disappointing displays, and now more than ever it feels as if his time has come to an end.

Jeff Stelling criticised the manager for his excuse following the game after it was said that the absence of Jarrod Bowen and a couple of defenders disadvantaged the Hammers – despite Palace having several injury issues of their own.
