West Ham United: Alan Pardew shares what’s next for David Moyes after what he said
Alan Pardew believes David Moyes is “at the end of his tether” at West Ham, but does not expect a decision to be made on his future until the summer.
The pressure is once again growing on Moyes following Sunday’s (21 April) shocking 5-2 loss at Crystal Palace in a game that United found themselves four goals down in 31 minutes.
Moyes was previously offered a new contract, with his current terms due to expire at the end of the current campaign, and Pardew believes it is now a case of waiting on his decision.
“For West Ham, it’s such a difficult period for David Moyes,” Pardew said on talkSPORT [21 April, 8:11pm]. “They’re out of Europe and there’s this question mark from the fans who don’t like his style, etc.
“Results have been very solid since he’s been there, but it was a really tough day for him today. It sounded like he was a man at the end of his tether following a poor performance.
“The decision will come at the end of the season. It might be they all agree to shake hands. He might decide it’s not for him. It’s been a really tough week for West Ham fans.”
Will David Moyes stay on as West Ham manager?
The defeat to Palace felt defining in many ways. It is not the first time United have been beaten heavily this season, but the difference is there is no European football to act as a safety net.
It was the type of performance that felt like the end of the road for Moyes. For all the talk of “be careful what you wish for”, it is hard to imagine the Irons playing that badly if a new manager comes on board.

If Moyes departs, it would not be a case of him being sacked, but rather walking away while he does still have credit among the fanbase. The Europa Conference League triumph will never be forgotten.
What should be said, though, is that the Scotsman should make a decision imminently, rather than waiting until the summer. That way, these next few weeks can be more of a celebration, rather than things potentially turning toxic.
If reports from abroad are anything to go by, then it may well be that the board have already made a decision for him.
