West Ham United must be ready to swoop for Mohamed Bayo

David Moyes badly needs another striker at West Ham United and there is no shortage of options for him to bring in this transfer window.

You will struggle to find many number nines who haven’t yet been linked with a summer switch to the London Stadium but we need to get one in sooner rather than later to avoid the embarrassment of missing out for a second successive window.

One of those we couldn’t quite get over the line in the winter was Clermont Foot’s Mohamed Bayo [Le10 Sport] but all is not lost on that front just yet.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed three very good goal-scoring seasons in France with Dunkirk and then his hometown club Clermont, most recently netting 14 goals in 32 games in Ligue 1.

The Guyana international has recently spoken to Footballogue about his future and it is very good reading for Moyes and Hammers fans alike.

“I had a season in National, I scored. I did a season in Ligue 2, it went well. We have stayed in Ligue 1 this season. The logical next step is to move towards a new challenge,” Bayo said.

“I don’t want to run for the money, I want a project where in the game I feel important. I don’t want to be the striker who’s just there to put her down.”

Bayo might not immediately replace Michail Antonio as the main man around the London Stadium and that could be a sticking point for him if money really doesn’t matter as he suggests.

Moyes will need to get his Scottish charms working overtime to entice him to the Premier League but a deal has to be agreed with Clermont Foot soon who will be keen not to allow their star man to leave on the cheap.

In other West Ham news, another Irons-linked player could be about to be sacrificed by his current side if a new tactic is deployed by the manager.
