West Ham suffer against Chelsea because of ‘shocking decision’ – Richard Keys

BeIN Sports host Richard Keys believes that VAR had a horrid day which ended up costing the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Leeds United.

The Hammers suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in controversial circumstances at Stamford Bridge on Saturday where Maxwell Cornet’s goal was disallowed for a foul on goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Keys, on his Twitter account, stated that the Irons were “robbed” because of a “shocking” decision from the referee.

West Ham

“Another really bad day for VAR,” he wrote. “West Ham were robbed. It was a shocking decision that cost them an equaliser. Newcastle should have a pen or their goal should stand and I’ll remain convinced Everton could’ve had a winner. The reasoning will be interesting.”

Heartbreaking

West Ham’s season went from bad to worse on Saturday when they suffered a defeat in a match where they should’ve come away with at least a point.

However, it is now time to forget about the result which could’ve and should’ve been better as there are important fixtures ahead and the fans will hope that performance of the team in the previous two games against top-four contenders Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will continue in the matches to come.

Manager David Moyes will be hoping to see the players continue producing similar kind of performances in the upcoming fixtures where victories will be a must to ensure that the club stay in the hunt to secure a place in the top seven once again.

Next up for West Ham is the match against Ukrainian club FCSB in the UEFA Conference League and the Hammers will be eager to start the competition on a winning note.
