West Ham United starting line-up v Tottenham: David Moyes makes three changes

West Ham have named a strong starting line-up for their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday (31 August) at the London Stadium.

The Hammers will be looking to secure back-to-back wins after they registered their first win last weekend when they won 1-0 against Aston Villa. Spurs have made a solid start to the season, having registered three wins and a draw in their opening four games.

David Moyes has made three changes to the side that won against Aston Villa. Ben Johnson, who picked up an injury in the previous game, has been replaced by Vladimir Coufal.

Big-money summer signing Gianluca Scamacca has been down will illness, and Michail Antonio has replaced him. Emerson has been dropped, with Said Benrahma being added to the starting line-up.

The Hammers have made as many as eight new signings, while David Moyes could look to bring more players before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Moyes needs to find his best formation and system that can help the team achieve their goals, that is finishing in the top four.

The problem with signing too many players is that it takes a lot of time to integrate them. However, the Hammers have signed genuine quality players, and in theory, they should click.

In the game against Villa, West Ham started the game sluggishly, and luckily Villa weren’t clinical enough to punish them. In the second half, they were a lot better.

Against Spurs, the home side need to be on top of their game. The fact that it’s a derby should provide an extra zest to give their best shot.
