West Ham set to complicate move for Armando Broja with Newcastle showing interest
West Ham are set to battle with Newcastle United for the signing of Chelsea youngster Armando Broja, according to iNews.
The Magpies have been in the market to sign an attacker in the ongoing campaign and have been heavily linked with a move for Stade Reims young forward Hugo Ekitike.
However, the deal has been stalled in the recent past and as per the latest report, they are now looking for alternatives as well and one of the candidates is Chelsea’s young forward Broja.
The report stated that the Hammers, who have also been linked with a move for the 20-year-old in the ongoing transfer window, are set to make the deal complicated for the Magpies.
Broja has four years left on his Chelsea contract and has a transfer value of £19.80 million as per Transfermarkt.
Time to make quick move
Broja can be classified as an all-out traditional striker with a big physical presence in the opposition’s half to intimidate the defenders.
Not only can he be involved in goals but can also run for days to make sure that the opponent defenders do not find it easy to build plays from the back.
In the recently concluded season, the Albania international scored six goals and provided one assist across 32 league appearances for Southampton [Transfermarkt].
Ralph Hasenhüttl was a huge fan and always trusted him in the biggest games for the Saints.
With Romelu Lukaku already potentially leaving Stamford Bridge, there was an expectation that Thomas Tuchel might want to keep the young forward to use him either as a front-line striker or as a backup for Kai Havertz.
However, with the addition of Newcastle in the mix of things who are also looking to sign a young forward, David Moyes should push hard to complete the deal as soon as possible.
