West Ham set to allow Darren Randolph to join Aston Villa

West Ham will allow Darren Randolph to leave for Aston Villa as they’ve got David Martin on their books as the third choice keeper, per the Evening Standard.

The report claims that Alphonse Areola is viewed as Lukasz Fabianski’s long-term successor and his arrival pushed Randolph further down the pecking order at the club.

Despite ExWHUemployee claiming this week that talks have broken down, the Hammers are unlikely to come in the player’s way as he looks to seal an exit.

Good news

Randolph’s signing for the second time seemed to be pointless as nobody expected him to challenge for a first-team spot.

He was on the back of a “fantastic” season with Middlesbrough but never seemed good enough to be a real threat to Lukasz Fabianski.

Even as backup, he barely featured for the Hammers and the club would’ve been better off giving that chance to a youngster.

He is also on higher wages than someone from the academy promoted to the first team would be on.

However, we’re hoping that the breakdown in talks is temporary and not a permanent one as they could end up being stuck with Randolph until the end of the season.

It makes sense for them to cash in now and they should continue in their quest to sanction his exit.

The next few days are key and it remains to be seen how this transpires.
