West Ham interested in January move for Olivier Giroud, Moyes ‘huge admirer’ – Journalist
West Ham United are interested in a January move for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud, according to Alex Crook.
The reliable journalist has shared that David Moyes is a “huge admirer” of the French international and would bring him to the London Stadium.
Didier Deschamps has claimed that Giroud needs more football to earn a spot in the France squad for the European Championships, making a move possible.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook shared a massive update on the future of Giroud in the next couple of months and any potential moves.
“Conversations have taken place between Giroud and the management set-up at Stamford Bridge saying they won’t stand in his way,” he said.
“I know there’s interest from West Ham United, David Moyes is a huge admirer of Giroud and why wouldn’t he be?”
Giroud has had to settle for minutes behind the likes of Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner, and a move to the London Stadium would certainly suit all parties.
The French veteran gave everyone a reminder of his talent on Wednesday, scoring four goals in the Champions League thrashing of Sevilla.
Giroud has only managed five substitute appearances in the Premier League though, adding up to only 47 minutes and he will surely be desperate for more.
With Michail Antonio struggling with injuries and only Sebastien Haller to replace him, it is clear why the Irons want to bring in another forward.
Bringing in another physical striker could make little sense though, and Moyes would potentially be better off bringing in a more agile player who could make a difference if needed.
Giroud brings guaranteed goals, and if the price is right, Moyes could bag himself a bargain.
