West Ham United in talks with Partick Thistle for young attacker Cameron Cooper

West Ham are reportedly in talks with Partick Thistle to sign young attacker Cameron Cooper this summer.

According to the Scottish Sun, David Moyes’ team appeared to be nailed on favourites to sign him, but Scottish side Rangers are now in pole position for the 16-year-old.

He is very highly rated and the 55-time SPFL winners are believed to be open to using two players as a makeweight to sign him.

West Ham

Can convince him

The fight to sign the 16-year-old is far from over as the Hammers will continue conversations with his club.

Rangers might be the biggest name in Scotland so for Scottish players, it could be the ideal destination.

However, in terms of quality and finances, they cannot compete with the Premier League and the lure should be enough to tempt Cooper to join West Ham.

The Hammers have scouted the player and the fact that they are in talks with another club only means that they seem to rate him highly.

They must not be dissuaded that another team leads the race as these things keep on happening during transfer windows.

It eventually may boil down to the player’s preference and if he sees an easier route to first-team football at the London Stadium, then he could very well move south of the border.
