West Ham ‘hope’ to agree a new contract with Tomas Soucek despite talks stalling
West Ham “hope” to resolve a new contract with Tomas Soucek despite talks stalling over a potential pay rise for the Czech international according to The Guardian.
It had been reported by West Ham insiders Claret and Hugh on Wednesday [25 May], that the Irons were hoping to move the 27-year-old on to make room in midfield.
However, as per the Guardian on Wednesday [25 May], there is hope an agreement can be found between “tired” Soucek and the club.

The midfielder’s current deal runs until the summer of 2024, meaning the Hammers find themselves in a comfortable position should anyone come in for the Czech international.
Stay or go?
Soucek has been a victim of his own success after his memorable 2020/21 season in claret and blue.
Despite West Ham’s success this year, the midfielder has struggled to make a significant impact and his partnership with Declan Rice hasn’t been quite as fruitful.
It is understandable why there have been rumours of the midfielder leaving the club, with David Moyes looking to perform major surgery on his squad.

Soucek is in the prime of his career and he will likely attract Interest.
If West Ham can get a sizable fee for the midfielder then letting him go would seem a sensible option.
Is he going to develop further?
The answer is probably not, and therefore if the right offer comes in for the midfielder then the Hammers should cash in.
Talks with Soucek over a new deal shouldn’t be a priority for the decision makers at the London Stadium at present.
