West Ham eye move for Belgian goalkeeper Gaetan Coucke

West Ham are showing keen interest in signing Belgian goalkeeper Gaetan Coucke in the summer, according to Het Nieuwsblad.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has been called up to the national team, but he is yet to make his senior debut.

Reims and Torino are also keen to sign the KV Mechelen goalkeeper who has a contract at the club till 2023.

The Belgian club have an option to extend the deal for another year. The player is open to moving abroad and feels it will help him to get into the Belgium national squad.

The Belgian club are keen to keep him at the club and they want to offer him a new deal.

However, if he pens a new contract, it could destroy his chances of an attractive move abroad.

He has a market price of just £675,000, and the Hammers can get him at a cheaper price provided they can see off the competition for him.

Coucke is rated highly at the club where he has made five clean sheets this season so far.

David Moyes is probably looking at someone who could be a long-term replacement of Lukasz Fabianski, who will turn 37 next month.

Fabianski has been superb for the Hammers this season, but the club do need to make a long-term plan to replace him.

Irrespective of where the Hammers finish this season, Moyes needs to be backed in the market. Signing a striker, a central defender, a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder should be his priorities next summer.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers may hold the advantage in the race to sign this stunning striker from Europe.
