West Ham and Arsenal to battle for both Armando Broja and Darwin Nunez

West Ham United may need to pull out the big guns if they want to sign either Armando Broja or Darwin Nunez this summer with Arsenal also interested.

According to the Evening Standard, Broja and Nunez are both on the Gunners’ list of potential strikers to sign ahead of next season with the Irons monitoring both players themselves.

Mikel Arteta may not be able to chase Broja next season however with Chelsea unlikely to do business with such close rivals at the end of the Albanian’s loan deal at Southampton.

Everton manager Frank Lampard was full of praise for the 20-year-old last month as he sees the Albanian as a “very talented young boy” having worked with him during his time at Chelsea [The Metro].

The battle for Nunez though might be the biggest of the summer for David Moyes and his recruitment team with the Portuguese side not willing to accept any less than £50million [Record].

Champions League crucial

This was already shaping up to be a vital year for the future of West Ham and things are becoming even more crucial as the transfer window nears.

Nunez is far more likely to go to a team that has Champions League football and right now, that looks far more likely to be Arsenal than the Irons.

Moyes’ side does have the added avenue of winning the Europa League to cling onto although they face a tough road to the final, starting against Sevilla tomorrow evening.

If they can barge their way into the Champions League, then they all of a sudden become a very enticing destination for some of Europe’s most wanted.

Failure to reach continental football’s most prestigious competition though would see a lot of those players want to turn elsewhere and Arsenal may be one of those places.

Moyes will know the importance of qualifying for the Champions League which is why he should go all-in on the Europa League as domestic form deserts them.

In other West Ham news, Moyes could be without one of his star players with sanctions set to be dished out.
