Tony Cottee expects West Ham to move for Adam Armstrong
Former West Ham striker Tony Cottee has praised David Moyes' recruitment and predicts a move for Adam Armstrong in the summer.
The Irons considered an £8million bid for the striker in January, and he was a target along with several other forwards.
Cottee anticipates Moyes to add to his dearth of striking options, suggesting Armstrong may not be the only attacker to join.
He told Claret & Hugh, "I fully expect a move for Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong who is a 5ft 8in frontman along with a bigger more physical type.
"His signings are remarkable and he will need to find a way of signing Jesse Lingard who has been remarkable."
A lot to prove
Armstrong has the potential to be another Moyes bargain but there are some concerns about his style and experience.
The 24-year-old also has 19 goals and three assists in an average Blackburn Rovers side this season.
Performing in the Premier League is a different matter altogether, though, not to mention the fact we may also be competing in Europe next term.
Armstrong has never played a Premier League game so he reminds us of Jordan Hugill a little too much.
Moreover, we are in greater need of a striker with similar attributes to Michail Antonio.
While Armstrong is a poacher like our frontman, he lacks his physicality and ability to hold up the ball.
Even at £10million - which is what Blackburn value him at - he would be a risk, so we are keen for the recruitment team to expand their search a little further.
