Roy Keane: Jesse Lingard would be a good fit for West Ham
Jesse Lingard has been urged to join West Ham by former Manchester United captain Roy Keane.
The England international’s future is yet up in the air and with only a year left to run on his contract, he is yet to pen an extension at Old Trafford.
West Ham have been keen on signing him after he impressed on loan last season, and The Daily Star reported on Thursday that Manchester United were open to his exit.
Speaking on the Overlap with Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, Keane, who is also a pundit on Sky Sports, said, “Jesse Lingard, the players like that in the background, they’re going to have to shift them on.
“I don’t think [he’s done enough to stay]. I don’t think Jesse Lingard is going to get Man United back challenging for titles.
“He did well at West Ham and maybe that type of club is a good club for him.”
Is there still hope?
Our Lingard pursuit this summer has been a fruitless one. Man United know that we’re keen on signing the player, but their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continually stated that he is not for sale. [Sky Sports]
However, with the reports such as the aforementioned Star one coming out, there possibly is a minute chance of us signing the 28-year-old attacker this summer.

Lingard, who is on wages of £110,000/week [The Sun], may look for a slight pay hike if he moves permanently and that’s something we must give him as he could take us to that next level.
Last season, we saw what sort of an impact he had in such a short period of time and he would certainly be a force to be reckoned with if he’s at the London Stadium for good.
It doesn’t look like we’re going to sign another attacking midfielder anyway, so hopefully, we manage to convince Lingard to join as he’ll be guaranteed game time here which will not be the case at Manchester United.
