Pundit fumes as West Ham United get set to sign Nayef Aguerd
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
West Ham are closing in on Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd after it was revealed by ExWHUemployee on his Patreon page on Friday 17 June that the 26-year-old is “in the building”.
The Hammers’ first summer signing has been a long time coming with The Daily Star claiming on Thursday 16 June that Newcastle United were looking to “hijack” a deal for the Moroccan international.

However, there have been murmurings that the defender will be the Hammers’ marquee signing.
Claret & Hugh reported on 14 June that David Moyes sees the Moroccan defender as his biggest signing of the summer.
And former striker McAvennie feels that is disappointing.
“They’ve been saying it’s marquee signing,” he told West Ham Zone.
“It’s an important job as defending is a dying breed now but if it’s a marquee signing that means they won’t be buying a striker and that’s really disappointing.”
The defender’s imminent arrival will provide David Moyes with much-needed defensive cover after the Hammers faltered towards the end of last season.

Although Aguerd will be thrown in at the deep end after it was revealed that the Hammers will face Manchester City in their opening Premier League match of the season.
The Moroccan defender has been a mainstay in Rennes’ defence this season scoring twice and notching three assists.
Moyes will be delighted to land the left-sided defender with the Hammers’ long pursuit of Aguerd looking to be coming to its conclusion.
In other West Ham news, Pundit demands David Sullivan to speak out about Nayef Aguerd transfer.
