Premier League club trying to hijack West Ham United move for Lucas Paqueta – Jean-Michel Aulas
West Ham United face last-minute competition for the signing of midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium before the end of the ongoing transfer window.
Aulas, while talking to Canal+ on Sunday as quoted by Beinsports.com, confirmed that the player is leaving but also revealed that another Premier League club are looking to hijack the Irons’ move for the creative midfielder.

“It’s unfortunate that Lucas Paqueta is leaving. But he wanted to leave. We thought we had very big clubs, we didn’t have them,” he said.
“We had to discuss at the last moment with West Ham. Now I know there was an English club who wanted to come forward at the last moment so maybe tomorrow morning we will wake up with something new. I can’t tell you the name.”
Urgent
West Ham entered the transfer window hoping to sign players to strengthen a number of areas on the pitch and with less than a week remaining, they’ve managed to nearly accomplish their target.
However, one area that is still demanding reinforcement is attacking midfield where there is an apparent shortage of players who can help the side in transitioning from defence to attack.

It was one of the primary reasons why the Hammers suffered three defeats in a row in the Premier League because they had no player who could find that final pass to unlock the opposition’s defensive line.
Therefore, having someone like Paqueta will be a dream for the West Ham fans as he can not only unlock the defence of any team but he can also score some valuable goals for the side and going by the words of Lyon’s president, it is pivotal that David Moyes ensures that the player will join the club as soon as possible.
