Peter Drury & Martin Keown stunned by Said Benrahma in West Ham draw v Genk
West Ham United somehow threw away all three points last night against Genk in the Europa League.
Said Benrahma was the star of the show in Belgium, scoring twice in the second-half to turn things around after conceding early in the 2-2 draw.
Martin Keown and Peter Drury were stunned by the Algerian wizard, especially as he magically carved open the Genk defence for his second goal.
Speaking during live commentary on BT Sports, Drury started the love-in for Benrahma after he smashed home his brace.
“Terrific,” he said.
“What a brilliant goal. Magical, mesmeric and West Ham from behind lead on the European road again.”
Keown backed that up and couldn’t believe his eyes at how easy the winger made it look to double his tally on the night.
“Wow, it’s a wonderful goal. He just slots it through his opponents’ legs, just watch him.”
It certainly was magical from Benrahma, and this is exactly what he have all been waiting to see consistently from our little wizard.
The Algerian only showed glimpses last season in the Premier League after joining from Brentford, but he has really turned it on in this campaign.
David Moyes has to take credit too, he has clearly given Benrahma more freedom and he couldn’t be relishing that pressure more.
We can’t wait to see more of this in the Premier League too, and Sunday would be the perfect time for that against Liverpool at the London Stadium.
Many will have thought that confidence couldn’t be higher in this squad right now, but Benrahma is proving that it is rising even more with each passing matchday – we can’t wait for more.
