Nottingham Forest will not open talks with West Ham target Joe Worrall

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that there will be no talks over an extension to West Ham target Joe Worrall’s current deal.

Cooper believes that as his contract does not expire this summer, he is not in line for talks over a new one.

According to Claret and Hugh, the Hammers are set to beat Everton to secure the 24-year-old centre-back’s services this summer.

Speaking about new deals, Cooper told Nottinghamshire Live, “There are other boys on longer-term contracts as well, who are not up for discussion at the moment because they are only a year or so into them – Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna etc.”

Good news

If the 24-year-old himself is not pushing for a new deal that means he’s keeping the door ajar over a summer exit.

The Hammers have been a club looking to sign him for a few months now and he’ll surely be aware of that.

David Moyes wanted a defender in January and did not get one, much to his disappointment.

That means he will be pushing doubly as hard to get one if not two centre-backs over the line in the summer.

Worrall could be the ideal signing for the Irons as he’s at the right age and will adapt to the Premier League quicker.

The Hammers have not shied from picking up talent from the Championship in the past and should be comfortable signing someone like Worrall in the summer.

In other West Ham news, the club want to sign a ‘Brilliant’ Chelsea player who will tick a major box for David Moyes in the summer.
