Newcastle United make injury over West Ham United target Armando Broja

Newcastle United are set to rival West Ham after they have made a formal inquiry to Chelsea about Armando Broja, according to a report from The Northern Echo.

The Magpies have agreed a deal to sign Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, but they are struggling to bring him to the London club. They have now turned their attention towards signing Broja.

The report (24 June) adds that the Magpies are prepared to take on West Ham in a transfer battle for Broja.

The Hammers are heavily interested in landing the Chelsea striker, and David Moyes has held talks with the Chelsea hierarchy to take him on board.

Get it done

Newcastle are proving to be a nightmare rival in the transfer market for the Hammers.

The Magpies were also in the hunt for a while to sign Alphonse Areola before they shifted their attention to sign Nick Pope. Once again, they are now prepared to engage in a tug of war with the Hammers to sign Broja.

The 20-year-old Albania international joined Chelsea in February 2020. Last season, he was on loan to Southampton, where he made a big impact, scoring nine goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.

The Hammers have already secured the signing of Nayef Aguerd, while a deal for Areola is also close, as per Fabrizio Romano. They must get the deal done for Broja, with Sky Sports already reporting that a £30 million bid was being readied.

The reliable Hammers insider, ExWHUemployee reported on 23 June Chelsea are placing a high value on the Albanian, something West Ham are not prepared to meet.

Broja would be a fantastic signing for the club, but as it stands, the Hammers have a real challenge on their hands to get this deal done.
