Newcastle links being used to get Nayef Aguerd a better West Ham United deal moots Claret and Hugh

Nayef Aguerd’s imminent West Ham United move could’ve hit a stumbling block due to his agent using Newcastle United rumours to get a better Hammers deal for the player according to Claret & Hugh.

The Daily Star revealed on Wednesday 15 June that Aguerd is in London to undergo a West Ham medical, but is still undecided over which club he wants to join with Newcastle showing late interest.

However, club website Claret and Hugh have suggested that the Newcastle rumours could be a tool for Aguerd’s agent to secure a better deal.

The website wrote on Thursday 16 June: “We know little more than we explained yesterday but it’s more than possible that the player’s agent – even at this late stage – is attempting to screw more cash on personal terms by planting a tale that the Magpies are in.”

Huge blow

Missing out on Aguerd will be a crippling blow to David Moyes and the Hammers’ recruitment policy this summer.

It’s clear the Irons won’t be able to match the finances on offer at Newcastle if the Magpies’ interest is to be believed.

There is every chance that the interest from the big-spending Premier League side is merely a fabrication in order to drive the 26-year-old’s West Ham deal up.

If that is the case then it’s a sad indictment on Premier League football and modern-day football to some extent.

Aguerd is making a dream move to a club that features in the biggest and best league in the world and all he is concerned about is squeezing a little bit of extra cash out of the club.

Moyes must not get sucked into a bidding war for the defender with the West Ham manager having to look for value in this summer’s transfer window.

West Ham fans will be eagerly refreshing their phones in the coming hours.
