Mipo Odubeko hails Jesse Lingard despite West Ham loss

West Ham United crashed to a disappointing 2-1 defeat in the Premier League against Manchester United on Sunday.

In inevitable fashion, it was Jesse Lingard who popped up with the winner at the London Stadium to haunt his former side.

David Moyes made the headlines though, for bringing on Mark Noble to take that penalty kick, which he ultimately missed.

Lingard was in an appreciative manner after the game, thanking the Irons faithful for the warm reception on his personal Instagram account.

That got lost in the comments though, as Mipo Odubeko appeared to lose his head and hail the man who had just cost his side points.

The young attacker simply left the goat emoji, and it is fair to say that didn’t go down very well with the fans.

Are we seeing this right?

We still can’t believe our eyes that one of our own players would have thought that this message was fine before sending it.

West Ham fans were rightly outraged in the responses to it, and that will likely continue for many days to come.

“Come on Mipo man,” one wrote.

Others were even more outraged by the message, with some even calling for him to leave the club for good after showing disrespect.

“Stupid comment, get out of our club now,” they wrote. “Huge disrespect, at least message him privately, no need to do it on here publicly.”

Odubeko will likely have learned his lesson, and even if he is away on loan at Huddersfield, he has to remember his loyalties and stuff like this is simply way out of line.

It is naive to think that fans would react normally to this and that is what media training is likely for, but hopefully, he has learned and we can all move on quickly.
