West Ham want to sign Millwall star Jed Wallace

West Ham United are locked in a battle to sign Millwall winger Jed Wallace, according to Football League World.

The attacking winger is in the final year of his contract at The Den, with the Lions preparing a fresh offer on the table.

Numerous clubs have noticed that with the Irons joined by the likes of Rangers and Celtic sniffing around.

It is suggested that it is looking extremely difficult for Millwall to tie Wallace down, and they could risk losing him for nothing now.

West Ham would have to wait until July to sign him on a free, and that could see the advantage handed to other sides.

Rangers and Celtic can start approaching the winger on a pre-contract agreement from January, meaning they have first choice if they want it.

The 27-year-old has been on electric form for many years now in the Championship at our near rivals, and a move would surely appeal.

Wallace may have been in good form, but this isn’t the type of move the Irons should be targeting during this run of success.

Now that European football is around the corner, bringing that to the London Stadium consistently is the goal.

Big-name signings such as Nikola Vlasic are the ones that get fans excited, and Wallace isn’t even topping charts in the Championship, despite being labelled as “sensational” at times.

With Jarrod Bowen it was different, he had bags of potential but with the Millwall man much further down the line, this one doesn’t appear to make much sense – free or not.

Andriy Yarmolenko leaving in the near future would free up huge wages, and most would be saved by bringing in Wallace as his replacement, but we can’t see this one happening.
