Michael Owen predicts result of West Ham clash v Brentford
Michael Owen believes West Ham still have a ‘glimmer of hope’ of finishing in the top four following Arsenal’s loss to Crystal Palace.
The Hammers are currently sixth in the table, three points behind Spurs and Arsenal but having played more games than both.
With the Europa League still in play too their attentions could be diverted, but Owen believes they will be targeting a win in every game and told BetVictor that he expects David Moyes’ side to scrape a 1-0 win.

“Brentford’s 4-1 win over Chelsea last week must surely be one of the results of the season,” he said.
“They didn’t have much of the ball, but they were so clinical in the final third. A big part of that, is obviously Christian Eriksen. He’s given this side more quality and composure.
“After Arsenal’s slip-up against Palace on Monday, West Ham still have a glimmer of hope of finishing in the top four. It’s still unlikely, but David Moyes will be targeting winning every game and seeing where that takes them.
“For that reason, I’m going for West Ham. I think this will be a really even game, but West Ham will scrape it 1-0.”
Opportunity
Owen is right, there is a small glimmer of hope for West Ham to be able to get into the top four this season and because of that they should be going for it.

A 1-1 draw against Lyon in the quarter-final of the Europa League means their progression into the semi-finals is hanging in the balance and therefore the Premier League is still a valid path to Champions League football.
Brentford will be absolutely flying after last week and there’s no doubt that the Hammers will be tired after their midweek game, especially after playing the whole second half with ten men.
However they do have the far better and deeper squad, as well as the individual quality to be able to make the difference where needed and they should be confident of taking all three points.
As Owen says, it won’t be easy and the game will be tight, but Moyes is definitely capable of securing all three points heading into Europe’s second leg.
