Michael Owen has ‘a funny feeling’ about West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta

Michael Owen has a “funny feeling” that Lucas Paqueta could become a top-class player in the Premier League for West Ham.

The Brazilian joined the club in a club-record deal from Lyon in the summer and has had a slow start to life in the Premier League, with no goals and just one assist so far in claret and blue.

And after suffering a shoulder injury that David Moyes described as “serious” and saw him ruled out of the defeat to Liverpool, Owen made a bold prediction on Premier League Productions (19 October, 7:10 pm) and admitted he likes Paqueta a lot.

West Ham

“I have got a funny feeling he could be a top-class player to grace the Premier League over the next few seasons,” he said.

“So, it’s a big blow for them.”

Huge

Paqueta was finally starting to settle into a rhythm at the London Stadium before the shoulder problem, and hopefully it’s not as serious as initially thought.

The 25 year old midfielder has slotted into the number ten role as a regular starter this season, and was finally beginning to strum up a partnership with Gianluca Scamacca and Jarred Bowen.

The player himself seems to believe the injury isn’t so serious and he could be back soon, and that would be a great boost to this Hammers side that has struggled for goals this season.

As for Owen’s prediction, it’s a great thing to have players of that quality in the side and if he can settle in and keep going then he will be a superstar as a Brazilian international with the best years of his career ahead of him.

West Ham could make the big money signing look like a bargain if he succeeds and if they go on to prove Owen right, not a single soul will remember the price.
