Mark Lawrenson predicts scoreline in West Ham clash v Brighton
Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham to run away 2-0 winners against Brighton this Wednesday in the Premier League.
The Hammers fell to a 2-1 defeat against the defending champions Manchester City this weekend and will be looking to get back to winning ways.
They take on a Brighton team who were booed off on Saturday by their home fans after failing to beat Leeds United.
Speaking to the BBC, Lawrenson said, “It’s now eight games since Brighton won in the league but they have drawn six of those and are still in the top half of the table.
“They created loads of chances against Leeds on Saturday so it was pathetic for some Seagulls fans to boo them off after that game finished 0-0.
“West Ham need a win too – they played well at Manchester City on Sunday but slipped to a second successive defeat. They are at home, and I think they will get one.”
Have to win
Much like West Ham, Brighton will be eyeing the European places and their side will be looking for a response after the scenes at full-time.
The Hammers are definitely favourites for this one and cannot afford to drop more points.
Nobody expected them to get anything from the City game, but at least they put in a spirited performance and deserve credit for it.
David Moyes has done wonders with this squad, but it’s time to take them to that next level and see that they finish in the top four.
It’s not beyond this current crop of players to achieve that and with a little bit of luck, anything is possible.
Hopefully, the Hammers continue their good start to the season and end this gameweek in the top four.
