Manchester United vs West Ham United: Alejandro Garnacho celebration explained
BBC producer Rob Schofield has pointed out the hidden meaning behind a Manchester United player celebration against West Ham United.
The Hammers were on the end of a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford in Sunday’s (4 February) Premier League contest.
Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring, before Alejandro Garnacho added a couple more in the second half.
The United attacker celebrated both in the same manner as he sat on the advertising hoardings with his arms folded.
Discussing the celebration on BBC Radio 5 Live, commentator Alistair Bruce-Ball said [4 February, 3:25pm]: “Our producer Rob Schofield has just spotted that the Garnacho celebration may have been mimicking what Mohammed Kudus did when he scored in a 2-0 win over Manchester United just before Christmas.”
Manchester United get revenge on West Ham
This was a tough defeat for West Ham supporters to take, not helped by Garnacho’s celebration.
Whereas the Irons were on top in the reverse fixture a little over a month ago, this time they were second best throughout.
In fact, it was just about the Hammers’ worst performance of the season as they offered next to nothing at Old Trafford.
Kudus was one of West Ham’s better performers on the day, but even he struggled to get going on a day to forget.

Worryingly, it is now six games without a victory for West Ham this calendar year, two of those ending in defeat and the other four all square.
David Moyes has not been helped by injury problems and Kudus being away on Africa Cup of Nations duty until recently, but far more is needed from everyone.
As for the celebration, it is just one United supporters have to suck up for now.
