Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has responded to a message posted by West Ham on social media following the departure of Pablo Fornals to Real Betis.

Fornals' move to the LaLiga side was belatedly confirmed on Friday (2 February), a day after the transfer window officially shut for business.

West Ham shared a video of Fornals saying farewell to fans on social media, with the midfielder landing United around £7million [BBC Sport].

In response to the video, Rice posted on his personal Instagram account [2 February]: "One of the best. Will never forget your goal in Alkmaar.

"It was a pleasure playing with you! All the best Pablitoo."

Europa Conference League glory

Rice has made a habit of commenting on West Ham United transfer news since himself leaving the club for Arsenal in the summer.

Just last week, he sent a message to Kalvin Phillips following his England international colleague's loan switch from Manchester City.

Fornals was clearly a hugely popular member of the United dressing room, but unfortunately his performances have dropped off.

The fee the Irons landed was next to nothing, and it could leave David Moyes light when also factoring in Said Benrahma's loan move to Lyon.

Supporters can look back fondly on Fornals' part in the run to Europa Conference League success last time out.

And like Rice, the United faithful will now wish the Spain international all the best in the next chapter in his career under Manuel Pellegrini.

As Fornals himself said in his farewell message, maybe our paths will meet again some day soon.
