Liverpool impressed by West Ham defender Ben Johnson
Liverpool were left impressed with Ben Johnson after his immaculate display in the 3-2 West Ham win in November 2021, per the Evening Standard.
Vladimir Coufal was left on the bench for this one as David Moyes made a bold call to go with Johnson.
He made the right call and his decision to start the Englishman proved to be the right one.

Must stay
Johnson did not go into this season with hopes of being a first-team regular.
He was behind Coufal and Ryan Fredericks in the pecking order and a loan move also would’ve made sense.
However, Moyes trusted Johnson to come into the team eventually and the player himself believed that the manager had faith in him to deliver.
There now is a legitimate claim to be made for him being the first-choice option at right-back.

Coufal has declined massively this term while Fredericks appears to be on his way out of the club.
The latter only has few months left on his deal at the London Stadium and there does not seem to be any inclination from the club to tie him down to a new deal.
Hopefully, they do that with Johnson as he could be the preferred right-back for the foreseeable future.
