Julen Lopetegui sack prediction emerges at West Ham United already

Jamie O’Hara insists it will be surprising if Julen Lopetegui makes it past Christmas at West Ham.

Speaking on talkSPORT (2 November, 7:16pm), O’Hara said that Lopetegui should be under more pressure than he currently is given the transfer outlay he has overseen at the London Stadium.

Lopetegui’s side suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on 2 November at the City Ground, their fifth loss of the Premier League campaign so far.

O’Hara said: “I will be surprised if (Lopetegui) makes it past Christmas, with all the money they’ve spent.”

Julen Lopetegui could be on the brink of West Ham United sack

Lopetegui has become the face of a new era in East London, not only ushered in by the Spaniard’s appointment in May but also by the plethora of new players who have arrived on his watch.

Of the Irons’ starting line-up at the City Ground, five have signed since Lopetegui took charge, albeit Crysencio Summerville and Guido Rodriguez were both hooked with the visitors 1-0 down at the break.

Edson Alvarez’s two needless bookings in the first half didn’t help the Hammers’ cause, but Lopetegui is fast running out of excuses after such an underwhelming start from a team built in his image.

Performances such as Summerville’s against Manchester United showed that the Spaniard has brought in some top-quality players, but Lopetegui has so far failed to get the best out of anyone.

The questions will continue to linger as to whether Lopetegui is the right man to steer the Irons in the right direction, but unfortunately for him, all the signs point towards the answer being a flat-out ‘no’.

In other West Ham news, Roshane Thomas has revealed why Crysencio Summerville decided to join the Hammers this summer.
