Julen Lopetegui exit update emerges at West Ham United ahead of Manchester United clash

Julen Lopetegui is aware the next three games will be “crucial” for his future at West Ham United, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Saturday (26 October) that the Hammers owners remain behind the Spanish manager, despite the Irons’ poor start to the Premier League campaign.

Lopetegui’s work ethic is appreciated by the decision-makers at the London Stadium, but potential candidates to succeed the former Real Madrid manager are already being prepared behind the scenes.

In the lead-up to the international break, the Hammers face Manchester United on Sunday (27 October) with games against Nottingham Forest and Everton to follow.

Will West Ham sack Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium?

It’s safe to say that the pressure is well and truly on Lopetegui at the London Stadium now. The Spaniard has three games to effectively prove that he is the right man to take this team to the next level this season.

While all three matches in the run-up to the November international break are winnable, they won’t be easy. Manchester United always pose a challenge, Nottingham Forest have had an excellent start to the season and Everton are difficult to beat.

Partner that with the fact that the Irons will be without star man Mohammed Kudus for all three of those matches after he was sent off against Tottenham and it is going to be a difficult period for everyone in claret and blue.

No supporters want to see managers sacked just for the sake of it, but there is a genuine chance the Irons could be in and around the relegation zone when the next international break rolls around in East London.

If that is the case, the owners at the London Stadium may well feel the former Wolves manager’s position is untenable and therefore believe they have to make a change sooner rather than later.
