West Ham United make new Jhon Duran transfer decision amid Aston Villa exit update

West Ham United have pinpointed Jhon Duran as their top target as they plan to sign a new striker according to Give Me Sport.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (25 October) that Julen Lopetegui's side have refused to end their interest in the Colombian international as they look to bolster their attacking ranks.

Lopetegui's Irons believe that a January move for the Aston Villa frontman is unlikely at this stage given his excellent form at Villa Park, but they are still yet to end their interest in securing his services.

Duran is understood to be more settled at Villa than he was in the summer when the Irons pursued his signature and there is a belief his valuation will have increased after penning a new deal with Unai Emery's side.

You have to say, Tim Steidten and Lopetegui appear to be committed to trying to get their man.

On the face of it, Duran would be an excellent addition to the Hammers ranks if a deal could be struck in January, but it is going to take an obscene offer for Villa to consider cashing in on the Colombian international midway through a campaign.

The Colombian international's value has only gone up since the Irons failed to secure his signature this summer and it doesn't seem as though Lopetegui will have loads of money to spend after a busy summer in East London.

Partner that with the fact that Niclas Fullkrug doesn't appear to be going anywhere despite his slow start to life in the Premier League [Florian Plettenberg, 25 October] and it just doesn't feel as though there is any chance of this deal getting over the line.

Hopefully, Steidten and Lopetegui will somehow manage to prove the doubters wrong and pull off this transfer, but West Ham fans shouldn't be expecting to see Duran in Hammers colours when the transfer window rolls around.
