Journalist provides worrying West Ham transfer update
West Ham United’s deadline day business looked set to be explosive, but now it appears that the fireworks have been rather dampened.
Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen is a name that has appeared heavily on the Hammers’ radar in the past few days.
It was thought that all the east London outfit had to do on Friday was put the finishing touches to a deal for the Tigers star.
Apparently not. BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone reported on his personal Twitter account that the deal to bring the 23-year-old to the London Stadium is at an impasse.
The transfer fee has seemingly been agreed, Stone puts it at £18million with £7million in add-ons.
However, there has been difficulty in securing personal terms with the player, and the deal is now up in the air.
What should West Ham do, here?
Well, the obvious answer is to get their heads out of their… you know what… and agree personal terms with the player.
Obviously you never want to give into player power and pay massively over the odds, but in Bowen’s case he’s probably going to be worth it.
He’s scored 17 goals and provided six assists this season, and he’s not even a centre forward. The Irons needs to give him what he’s asking for.
In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly looking to seal the signature of three new signings on deadline day.
