Journalist details West Ham stance on Pape Abou Cisse as Brighton enter fray

West Ham are reportedly no longer interested in signing Olympiacos defender Pape Abou Cisse.

According to Daily Star journalist Jacque Talbot, the Hammers had registered their interest previously in the Senegal international, but are not looking to sign him this summer.

It’s understood that Brighton are keen on securing his services and Olympiacos could do a deal if an offer is made in the region of £15million.

Worth considering?

The Hammers are signing Nayef Aguerd this summer for almost twice the amount as the 26-year-old is expected to go for.

There’s not much to say that Aguerd is twice the player Cisse is, which leads to the question: Are the Hammers overpaying for the Moroccan?

It’s a tad late to delve deeper into it as Aguerd is all but a West Ham player so the fans must get used to that fact.

Signing another defender for that kind of money does not really make sense when there are other positions to strengthen.

Hopefully, the Hammers have someone in mind to take over from Michail Antonio in the final third as a striker needs to be a priority.

They cannot afford to go another window without signing a number nine as that will al but end their chances of securing European qualification next season.
