Jonathan Spector wants Declan Rice to join Manchester United

Jonathan Spector wants to see West Ham star Declan Rice join Manchester United at some point in the future.

Speaking to the British Gambler about various topics from the world of football, the former Irons and USA international offered his thoughts on Rice moving to Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Red Devils in the past, and Spector believes that he would be an ideal signing for them [Independent].

He said: “I do think he could slot straight in. I think he comes with a hefty price tag.

“And for good reason, so I don’t know what the right price or how high you can go for a player like Rice is, and obviously, being English, there seems to be a premium.

“But I think Rice has a tremendous future, and I don’t think that West Ham can hold on to him for that much longer. I’d love to see him at Man United. I think he’d be a very good option for them going forward.”

Rice is a man in demand.

Rice’s current contract at the London Stadium expires in 2024, so the Hammers are still in a strong position there.

They are also flying in every competition, so why would the England international want to leave that at the moment?

The Red Devils are behind the Irons, so it is not as if they are performing better on the pitch at the moment.

West Ham

Yes, they may be deemed a bigger club, and Manchester United will always attract people to them, but when you look at where the Irons are going, things are only going to get better.

You would hope that Rice will stay and resist the temptation to move away, and if they either win the Europa League or finish in the top four, they will have Champions League football next season.

So, you can see why Spector wants to see Rice at Old Trafford, but as things stand, there isn’t really any reason for him to swap east London for Manchester.
