Jim White issues David Sullivan update as agreement signed amid West Ham investment reports

David Sullivan has signed a confidentiality agreement as rumours swirl that West Ham are set for investment from a Czech billionaire.

That’s according to Jim White, speaking via his talkSPORT [29/10/21] show on Friday morning.

Sky Sports reported on Thursday [28/10/21] that Daniel Kretinsky, who owns Czech top-flight side Sparta Prague, is days away from agreeing on the purchase of a “big stake” in the East London club, one that could lead to a full takeover.

It would bring to an end the decade-plus long ownership of the club from Sullivan and David Gold, who assumed control in 2010 and have been the subject of much derision from fans under the ‘GSB’ moniker alongside vice-chairman Karren Brady.

White has now issued a behind-the-scenes update on the deal after attempting to contact Sullivan.

“What I can tell you is Mr Sullivan could say nothing to me this morning because he has signed a confidentiality agreement, but I am told nothing is imminent,” White said.

There will have been scepticism that greeted the news that West Ham are set for investment, with a view to the eventual supplantation of GSB, given the long-standing stranglehold on the club.

Many supporters have demanded their exit from the Irons for a number of years, but to no avail.

However, these latest reports really do appear to have legs.

White claims Sullivan has signed a confidentiality agreement, meaning he is required to keep certain information under wraps at this current stage.

Clearly, talks are at a delicate stage, and the relevant parties do not want information to leak out that could derail the investment bid, not least Kretinsky.

It’s exciting times for many West Ham supporters, though, as they eye the end of a long-suffering chapter in their history.
