Jesse Lingard expected to demand same wages he did during West Ham loan
According to Claret & Hugh’s Hugh Southon, Jesse Lingard will be demanding the same salary at West Ham as he earned at Manchester United before moving to the Hammers on loan.
Southon has rebuffed reports stating that the England international would want a pay hike at the London Stadium and even possibly become the club’s highest wage earner.
Lingard’s understood to be earning £80,000-a-week at Old Trafford, and he’s not looking for the extra £30,000-a-week which would see him leapfrog Andriy Yarmolenko.

The C&H report titled ‘Lingard personal terms – the truth‘ states, “Agents close to the deal have made it clear to C&H this is simply not the case and the Hammers themselves found it ‘refreshing’ when the 28-year-old was happy to remain on the same wage when he arrived at the club on loan.”
Certainly refreshing
Lingard knows about the club’s financial situation and their eagerness to sign him permanently this summer. He could’ve used that fact to leverage a higher deal for himself, but he’s happy to be on his current wages.
What’s worrying about this is that Manchester United could use their seemingly unlimited cash reserves and further mess up their already broken wage structure.

However, what we’ve seen from Lingard this past season tells us he’s an ambitious player who’s the happiest when he’s guaranteed regular minutes under his belt.
He might be higher up the pecking order at Old Trafford next season, but to think that he would start ahead of Bruno Fernandes is preposterous.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to accommodate him out of position and play him out wide but that takes away from what Lingard does best – getting on the ball, dribbling through the middle of the park and making runs off the striker.
David Moyes plays entirely to Lingard’s strengths and we’re hoping we can convince him to join this summer.
