Jamie O’Hara left gobsmacked as West Ham United break ‘shocking’ record v Chelsea

Jamie O’Hara has been left gobsmacked live on air after he was told a “shocking” West Ham United statistic after the Irons’ defeat against Chelsea.

Julen Lopetegui’s side slipped to a third Premier League defeat of the season at the London Stadium on Saturday (21 September) as Enzo Maresca’s Blues ran out 3-0 winners in East London.

For the first time in the Hammers’ history, they have lost all three of their opening home league games in a season and talkSPORT host O’Hara has admitted that things are “not looking good” for Lopetegui.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Saturday (22 September, 19:20) he said: “That is a shocking stat. That is a shocking stat for a new manager.

“In their history? If you’re breaking records as the new gaffer, that is not good. That is not looking good.

“West Ham fans, what is going on? We want to hear from you.”

Will West Ham sack Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium?

As O’Hara suggests, it doesn’t bode well that Lopetegui has managed to break a negative club record within his first five Premier League games in charge of the Hammers.

While statistics don’t tell the whole story, it is worrying that the Irons have looked so ineffective on their own patch, particularly when the former Real Madrid manager was expected to bring a more attacking brand of football than David Moyes.

However, West Ham couldn’t have had a much harder run of fixtures to get their campaign underway, particularly at home. In Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa they have already played three teams that qualified for Europe last term.

The Hammers won’t have had many tougher starts to a league season in the past and it would be wrong for them to make a change in the dugout just because one negative record has been broken.

Hopefully, Lopetegui will turn things around quickly to try and get supporters back onside. He won’t want to be the first Irons boss to lose all four of his first four home league matches.
