James Collins reacts to Manuel Lanzini incident in West Ham v Norwich

West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini faced an injury scare in the first half against Norwich City in the Premier League clash on Wednesday.

The Argentine appeared to have picked up a bad shoulder injury after a bad collision. However, he managed to shrug off his injury, and continued with the game.

James Collins, the former West Ham defender, was commenting on the game on BBC Radio 5. He described it as a “nasty” challenge.

He said as quoted by BBC Sport: “This looks a little bit nasty. Manuel Lanzini has come off worse for wear in that collision. It looks like he has taken a knee to the back of the head.

“He’ll probably be a little bit sore but I am sure he will get on with it.”

Two good chances

Lanzini has been in very good form recently and he looked sharp once again during the game.

West Ham struggled for momentum during the game but the Hammers created some good chances.

Lanzini missed two very chances during the opening 45 minutes.

From a set-piece, Pablo Fornals rolled the ball to Lanzini who from distance shot straight into the arms of Tim Krul. It was a decent effort but he should’ve done better.

His second attempt was very ordinary and poor. Vladimir Coufal won a free-kick on the right-hand side of the box.

Aaron Cresswell returning to the starting line-up after a long injury lay-off played it to the edge of the box and found Lanzini who was unmarked and waiting. His effort was tame and off-target.

Apart from set-piece deliveries, West Ham failed to create enough clear cut chances during the game, but a goal from Jarrod Bowen was ruled out due to offside.
