Gianluca Scamacca agents work to get ‘go-ahead’ for West Ham United exit to Roma – Sky Sports

The agents of West Ham ace Gianluca Scamacca are working with the club to get the “go-ahead” for the player to move to Roma, according to Sky Sports Italy.

Scamacca only joined the Hammers last summer, signing from Serie A side Sassuolo for £35.5million, with injuries disrupting his debut campaign in England.

The striker joined the East London outfit on a five-year deal, scoring eight goals from his 27 appearances in all competitions last season.

“Roma continues to work to bring Gianluca Scamacca back to the capital,” according to Sky Sports Italy.

“West Ham’s momentary ‘no’ to the possibility of a loan has arrived for the Italian striker, but the player’s agents are working with the English club to be able to get the go-ahead.”

Roma switch close

Scamacca hasn’t had the impact that he or many others wanted him to have at West Ham, with the striker netting just three goals from his 16 Premier League appearances.

Injuries have, of course, played their part in his struggles, but even when fit, the forward has failed to shine in the final third.

It now seems that the Italian international is third in line when it comes to David Moyes’s preferred strikers, with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings occupying positions number one and two respectively.

Scamacca could fall further down the pecking order this summer if the Hammers manager chooses to strengthen his attack once more, but the Italian could have a way out with a move to Roma.

The 24-year-old obviously knows the league and the country well, and may not have such struggles in the Italian capital with what would be a fresh start in his relatively brief career.
