Fabrizio Romano: West Ham United still negotiating deal for Armando Broja

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that West Ham United are still negotiating a deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

Thomas Tuchel has made it clear on 19 July that he doesn’t expect Broja to leave the club the summer, although there’s a lot of interest in the player.

The young striker has been reportedly chased by a host of clubs, including West Ham, Everton and Newcastle but it has been suggested that the Hammers are leading the race for his signature.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Negotiations with West Ham are still on.”

David Ornstein wrote for The Atheltic on 18 July that the Hammers are “close to reaching an agreement” with the Blues for Broja.

The player apparently has agreed personal terms with the Hammers, while Chelsea are also close to agreeing deal with their London rivals.

The Hammers have offered £25million up front with a further £5 million in add-ons, as they look to secure their fourth major signing of the summer.

West Ham

Usually, when a deal is really close, the club manager makes it very clear. However, Tuchel’s comments raise suspicion. It seems like the Hammers are not really close to securing a deal, contrary to reports.

Broja scored nine goals in all competitions for Southampton last season where he impressed heavily on loan.

Chelsea are keen to retain his signature, and Tuchel wants to integrate him into the senior squad. But a move to the London Stadium can’t be completely ruled either.
